Affordable and Cost-Effective Digital, Content, Social Media and Influencer Marketing Packages for Brands/ Businesses to Weather the Covid-19 Pandemic

Let’s face the truth, life is not going to revert back to normal (pre-Covid-19) for quite some time, if not at all. Businesses and brands, must therefore look to adapt to the “new norm” and modify their business model, as well as sales/ marketing strategies. Sadly, the overall market is shrinking due to the effects of the pandemic, while the number of businesses remains the same, which means that the competition for market share is going to be even more intense than before.

Data out of China showed that:

“…more than 429,000 business have dissolved or suspended operations for the year so far…”

While in neighbouring Singapore:

“In just the first three months of this year, 239 companies went into liquidation, Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) data showed. This is compared with 287 for the whole of last year – already a record high since 2005.”

“Another 19,000 businesses and companies ceased operations between January and last month, data from, an authorised information service provider of Acra, showed.”

Yes the outlook is grim, however, there is always opportunity for savvy brands/ businesses. We assist brands to communicate the value of their products/ services (we don’t advocate brands using the price strategy as there are no winners in a price war) to consumers through engaging and cost-effective marketing.

In light of the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) Movement Control Order (MCO), we are assisting brand owners with even more affordable and cost-effective packages for businesses to generate much needed revenue through this very turbulent period.

During this MCO period, we’re happy to offer a 30% discount off all packages.

Also, after the movement control order is lifted, businesses will need to reach out to consumers with a share of voice to regain their share of market. We’re offering a 20% discount off all packages for all bookings before 31 May 2020 to assist in the recovery phase.

Can you generate sales during this MCO period? Yes absolutely if you have online retail presence!

“The research shows that most consumers across Asia-Pacific are active online while they have extra time on their hands, suggesting that brands can use live stream, online, and interactive ways to engage with their customers at home.”

Get your products/ services listed on online marketplaces/ your own platform now to avoid this situation –

MHB Digital believes that digital publicity should be engaging while being affordable and cost-effective. We believe in conveying the value of our clients’ product/ services through ethical, high-quality, and trustworthy content in a lifestyle and non-hard sell manner that will stand out from all the junk, tabloid clutter and fake news, capturing the attention of consumers as well as providing positive brand awareness.

“Writing, reviewing food, drinks, lifestyle and culinary fashion trends is in Tim’s blood.  He loves it, he lives through it.  He understands his subject matter, and is able to relate.  Tim is a fair reviewer and is always willing to support and cooperate. He manages a group of influencers who, together with him, gives their views to their followers on social media, their fair share of hunger for places to visit to enjoy a great meal, equally great drinks or a great product to purchase!”
Christian Nannucci – General Manager, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur

“Highly conscious of the digital shift in consumer behaviour, Tim is knowledgeable in how he pens his reviews and strategizes his content to achieve high SEO rankings. This is definitely an important value add for us as service providers because Tim’s reviews attract just the right audience to his page, which ultimately benefit us in many ways possible.”
Lai Yen Yee – Director of Marketing & Communications, Westin Kuala Lumpur

“It was great partnership with Tim Chew and MHB Digital for our recent events. Their services provide us great exposures by the well-known KOLs for better brand awareness to the public. MHB Digital carefully selects the suitable KOLs to work with our brand which is great. We look forward to working with Tim and MHB Digital again in the new future.”

Instagram – for immediate and widespread publicity to consumers (we have a special technique that ensures that we promote your product/ service and you’re not paying for the influencers to promote themselves).

Facebook – boosting through MHB Digital’s social media pages with specific targeting to your potential consumers demographic to reach real followers and their friends (not foreign workers or ghost/ fake accounts)

Trustworthy Websites/ Blogs – a very cost-effect alternative content marketing solution (instead of you having to spend a fortune every month buying words on Google Search) which also serves to provide credibility, confidence, and more info to consumers who are already interested to purchase your product/ service but need the extra assurance of value before they make the purchase.

What about Tik Tok? Tik Tok can be effective for certain products/ services, while being totally ineffective for others. Therefore, we will need to first determine the suitability of your product/ service before utilising this platform.

Affordable and Cost-Effective Professional (Food Delivery Platform) Photography for Restaurants/ F&B Establishments

Affordable and Cost-Effective Professional (Food Delivery Platform) Photography for Restaurants/ Food & Beverage Establishments

Updated on 15 May 2020

The fallout of Covid-19 looks to be very long-lasting and severe, impacting all aspects of our lives and disrupting many businesses across almost all industries.

As we provide our marketing services to many food and beverage (F&B) clients, the feedback across the board is that revenues have been greatly impacted, some up to 80 to 90%. Some restaurants have turned to a food delivery model to survive during the MCO period.

We did a survey of the popular food delivery apps like Grab Food, Food Panda, DeliverEat, etc. etc. and have noticed that most independent restaurants do not have photos of their dishes (some have very basic/ ugly photos which were quite obviously shot with a smartphone). The big chain restaurants however, realise the importance of having quality photos and have the photos of their products on the platforms.

This is because consumers have more confidence to try your products if they can see what they are getting. As competition among restaurants is high in the food apps, the restaurants that appear to provide more value for money will undoubtedly have the upper hand (assuming the reviews are the same or better and not worse than other restaurants of same tier).

Thus good quality photos of the products are necessary especially to convince first time customers.

Even after the MCO is lifted (currently scheduled to end on 28 April 2020), the authorities might not allow dining in restaurants for some time, and even if it is allowed, it might take a while for consumers to have the confidence to start dining in at restaurants again. (Updated 15 May 2020 – We’ve surveyed a couple of malls in the Klang Valley as well as taken into account feedback from our numerous restaurant owners stating that diners are still very hesitant to dine in restaurants)

Therefore, we have decided to assist with some very affordable and cost-effective professional (food delivery platform) photography packages by renowned photographer Andy Kho specifically to assist F&B owners through this very turbulent period.

Additionally, these photos can also be used for social media marketing purposes which is crucial to attract diners to patronise or order from your establishment.

These packages are available from now until 15 June 2020 after which the pricing will revert to normal.

View Andy’s F&B portfolio at ( and MHB Digital ( can also assist with digital, content, social media and influencer marketing during this period, as well as assist you to recover market share after the MCO ends.

We’re here to help! #kitabantukita

MHB Digital and The Macallan at Burnin’ Pit’s 1st Anniversary Party

We recently headed over to Burnin’ Pit in Desa Sri Hartamas for their first year anniversary on 5 July 2019. The Burnin’ Pit is the first of its kind in Malaysia and is a pork-free (the outlet does serves alcohol though) restaurant and bar which features low and slow cooked meats lovingly cooked for up to 12 hours.

Popular dishes include their tender slow-cooked Wagyu or Aussie beef brisket, beef ribs, and pulled lamb among other American favourites, as well as a local twist on “Jerk Chicken” with their version of Percik Chicken!

The casual dining establishment spans two floors of a corner lot in bustling Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur, with a balcony on the first floor that’s great for watching the world go by. The ground floor is the low table dining area where you have a view of the chefs in action, while the first floor is the bar area with high-tables which is more conducive for socialising with your friends over some drinks. There is also a live band performance on certain evenings.

The ground floor features an open design with lots of glass and an environment that is both welcoming and comfortable

Congratulations to the Burnin’ Pit! Here’s to many more anniversaries to come!
The live band kept us entertained with some classic and current pop numbers
We had a great catch-up over some Macallan single malt Scotch whisky and delicious smoked meats.
Good friends, great conversations, premium Scotch whisky, delicious smoked meats, and a nice ambiance – now that’s a wonderful evening indeed!

The delicious and tender smoked meats went exceptionally well with The Macallan single malt whisky which are made with exceptional oak casks that are the single greatest contributor to the outstanding quality, natural colours and distinctive aromas and flavours of The Macallan.

The Macallan was founded in 1824 in the heart of Speyside, and was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed, and today is one of the world’s leading single malt whiskies.  The Macallan draws on influences of Spain, North America and Scotland, and of their respective natural raw materials, combined with traditional Scottish methods and craftsmanship.

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Nick Savage, Master Distiller of The Macallan (which you can read here – who explained that the process of creating Macallan whiskies was like creating a supercar, using only premium raw ingredients, combined with intricate skills and techniques, even sourcing quality sherry and oak casks to age the whiskies in, all to create the “Ferrari of Whiskies”. So the next time you enjoy a bottle of Macallan, remember that what you’re savouring is the culmination of superior quality and tremendous skills and experience.

Chef Koichi of Torikin in action at the grill preparing the yakitori

Based in Fukuoka, Torikin at J’s Gate Dining in Lot 10 Shopping Centre Kuala Lumpur has its roots in “Toricho,” a renowned restaurant in Roppongi, Ginza, Tokyo. Torikin inherited the tradition and history of Toricho, as well as its sauce that has been passed down for 60 years. Using only fresh ingredients and an original blended seasoning, Torikin’s yakitori brings out the best taste in its skewers, while keeping them simple.

Tanbakuromame kuriimu chiizu (on the left)

Sweet Black Bean Cream Cheese accompanied with crackers

A little East meets West starter here – with the creamy black bean cream cheese served with crackers! Not your typical Japanese starter but nonetheless delicious!

Yodare Dori (on the bottom)

Boiled Chicken Breast with Spicy Sesame Sauce

Boiled chicken breast is usually quite dry and tasteless however we were immensely surprised by the juicy tenderness of this one which was topped with a spicy sesame sauce!

Tori Soboro Don

Minced Chicken on rice

A very filling dish indeed topped with a beautifully cooked egg. Break the yolk into the rich and minced meat and combine for a rich and savoury main dish that’s really filling enough on its own!

Yakitori Set – 4 types of assorted yakitori

Four (4) different types of freshly grilled yakitori that really hit the mark! Goes great with some Japanese beer or whisky highball!

MHB June 2018 Influencer Dinner Presented by Tangerine at The Face Suites

[Special Event]

We recently headed over to Tangerine restaurant at THE FACE Suites which is a luxury all-suite hotel located in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle – the city’s commercial, shopping and entertainment hub. The hotel is located along Jalan Sultan Ismail, and is a short distance from the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower as well as shopping and entertainment districts such as Suria KLCC and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.

The all-suite hotel comprises 200 suites with a stunning view of the Kuala Lumpur city skyline. Designed to cater the need for business and leisure travellers, the all-suite hotel offers One Bedroom and Two Bedroom suites in four room categories; Superior, Deluxe, Premier and Grand Premier. With One Bedroom Superior as the entry-level suite, ranging at 83 sqm to the largest suite at 138 sqm, the Two Bedroom Grand Premier. All suites are fully furnished with integrated modern living room, kitchenette that are equipped with modern appliances and spacious king-sized bedroom with en-suite bathroom as well as a functional space for work or study.

The infinity pool is located on the 51st floor also known as the Sky Deck is the highest floor of the building that offers a panoramic view of the Kuala Lumpur city skyline including the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower. In fact, this infinity pool is one of the most popular in the city with many hotel guests (yes the pool is only open to hotel guests) snapping a pic with the city’s landmarks in the background.

We were there for a fine dining dinner at Tangerine – the hotel’s rooftop fine dining restaurant that offers modern Western cuisine. The restaurant is located on the Sky Deck (Level 51) of THE FACE Suites and being so high up, offers a very scenic Kuala Lumpur city and evening sunset views.

Tangerine was designed sophisticatedly in all marble with floor to ceiling windows that lets in lots of natural daylight while also offering the aforementioned scenic views while you dine in luxury. Its fine dining menu focuses on using fresh ingredients and innovative flavours with modern cooking technique.

The restaurant has both an opulence indoor dining area as well as a more casual outdoor seating and is an ideal dining venue for intimate candlelight dinner, special celebratory occasions, and even private functions.

The restaurant has three (3) different set dinners available:

We had the 5-course set dinner.

Amuse bouche to whet the appetite and set the tone for what’s to follow

Golden caviar, seafood reduction

A dainty little dish with fresh and umami flavours!

Truffle shavings, fennel puree, lavender dust

Agnolotti is a type of pasta typical of the Piedmont region of Italy, made with small pieces of flattened pasta dough, folded over a filling of roasted meat or vegetables. This was another pretty dish thanks to the flowers on top. The truffle shavings added a touch of luxury to this dish!

Gooseberry jam, vanilla glaze

Lovely earthy flavours of the foie gras went well with the gooseberry jam and red wine that we had!

4TH COURSE (Choice of)

Roots vegetable, baby onion, truffle jus

Rillettes fritter, eggplant and date, black garlic dressing

Definitely the most photogenic and Instagrammable dish of the night! The lamb was beautifully slow cooked to a pink medium rare, and paired well with the reduction.

Black Cod

French scallop, fermented bean cream, royal chives

served with Manuka honey

Three (3) different cuts of cheese paired with high quality Manuka honey!

Dessert – Burnt Milk Mousse

with Prunes Gel, Ginger Tuile

Something sweet to end the dinner.

The dinner was also supported by our generous partners SK-II, Shiseido Professional, Claude Bernard and L’Occitane.

Dining 51 storeys above KL was definitely a moment for us to shine in such a beautiful setting, and the L’Occitane Terre de Lumiere Parfum made the occasion extra memorable. We felt on top of the world, and confident knowing who we are, enjoying an unforgettable evening dining with lovely company, in a gorgeous ambience, and of course – a wonderful fragrance!

In Provence, there is a unique moment in time, when the light embraces the sky and blesses the earth with a fleeting interval of grace. This is known as the Golden Hour. L’Occitane translated this light into a scent which reveals an addictive and contrasted signature, an unexpected fusion of mesmerising gourmand notes and aromatic freshness.

Terre de Lumière Eau de Parfum, the first gourmand aromatic fragrance from L’OCCITANE, envelops the body in a scent full of contrasts. It leaves in its wake a soft, aromatic scent, with addictive, contrasting notes.

The dinner was also supported by Claude Bernard timepieces

Claude Bernard was founded in 1973, and takes its name from a master watchmaker from the Jura Valley where centuries earlier Switzerland’s watchmaking industry had taken hold. In the mid-16th Century Frenchman John Calvin broke with the Roman Catholic Church and fled to Geneva. French Huguenots followed him but when Calvin banned the production, and wearing of, jewellery because it had ‘no place in the worship of God’ local goldsmiths and jewellers were forced to turn to a new trade – watchmaking.

Most of these craftsmen farmed during the warmer months and honed their watchmaking skills in the winter and Les Genevez, a plateau high in the Jura, became a focal point for what became a roaring trade. It’s in Les Genevez today that Claude Bernard creates its timepieces, either with mechanical or quartz movements, all assembled with a passion for detail that can be traced back to those 16th-century pioneers and Claude Bernard himself.

Today, Claude Bernard prides itself on using the most modern of materials in its watches but without forsaking that magnificent Swiss watchmaking tradition. Precision, quality, reliability and attention to the finest detail are hallmarks of Claude Bernard watches, now distributed to more than 70 countries throughout the world.

Claude Bernard’s portfolio is diverse, with sleek diver’s models such as the Aquarider to the slick Sophisticated Classics dress watches and the elegant, ultra-feminine Dress Code family. Combining tradition and innovation and the highest quality but without the price tag to match, Claude Bernard watches are the best value Swissmade watches available today.

Toast The Macallan Kuala Lumpur 2016

[Special Event]

The girls from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers and I headed over to the Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur for the inaugural Toast The Macallan (2016) which is a pop-up exhibition-styled event that will be held from the 26th of September to the 1st of October 2016. Toast The Macallan was featured as a pop-up experiential stage where guests not only learn about the whisky and brand thru a lively and entertaining whisky tasting session, but would also be able to savour the latest range of The Macallan whiskies.

This global circuit event has previously been to neighbouring markets like Jakarta and Singapore, and being very popular in countries such as Taiwan and Hong Kong, Toast The Macallan made its was to Kuala Lumpur to give aspirational whisky connoisseurs a chance to experience their world famous single malt scotch whisky.

The prestigious experience was held over six (6) consecutive days in an elegant and bespoke ambience at the Ritz-Carlton Kuala Lumpur, hosted by The Macallan Brand Trainer, Keith Nair and Brand Advocate, Randall Tan. The best part was that tickets to this event were priced at only RM50 nett per person, which includes a whisky tasting flight of the brand’s signature single malts, entry passes to the exhibition area and The Macallan lounge where guests were treated to custom-made cocktails.

Founded in 1824 and immersed in its rich history, The Macallan is one of the best-selling single malt scotch whisky across Asia and Malaysia is becoming one of the key countries to see a significant preference for single malts, which is an appreciated lifestyle of the affluent. With this in mind, Toast The Macallan is aimed at individuals who are brassy and keen to learn more about the esteemed single malt whisky.

During the masterclass, The Macallan has also unveiled its newest series dubbed the Trilogy, which consists of, The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years Old, The Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Years Old and its latest expression The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old.

“The Macallan has always been one of the leading brands in the single malt category and we are very excited to introduce our newest range, The Macallan Trilogy. This platform would allow consumers to experience what The Macallan really stands for and why our whiskies are exceptional in its class” explains Chief Representative of Edrington Malaysia, Mr Edwin Yeo.

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old is a single malt that tells a journey; a story that brings together two different worlds. Bringing new oak from America across the seas to Spain, the casks are crafted and seasoned with sherry before making its way back to their distillery in Scotland and left to mature for at least 12 years before harmoniously blending them with the very best sherry-seasoned European Oak Casks.

Commenting on the Double Cask, Bob Dalgarno, The Macallan Master Whisky Maker; said, “This is a single malt which celebrates the coming together of two styles to create a fully rounded and distinctive flavour.” It is often said that when two worlds come together, they create something magical and this is what the Double Cask represents.

Stylo Tim Chew Pic (2)

The Mercedes-Benz STYLO AsiaFashionFestival 2016 kicked off three nights of fashion entertainment on 4 March 2016 at Zouk Kuala Lumpur @ Tun Razak Entertainment Centre (TREC). This year’s festival was themed, “The Hall of Plenty” and was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz who showcased an array of the latest generation of Mercedes-Benz A-class vehicles in front of the entrance to Zouk Club KL.

With the Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix scheduled for later in the year, the Mercedes-Benz STYLO AsiaFashionFestival (MBSTYLOAFF) premiers as STYLO’s signature fashion festival taking place in March, highlighting the latest stylish creations and A/W 2016 collections from top Asian designers in a B2C showcase. STYLO will still continue its tradition of being a key support event for the Malaysian F1 race, and will be showcased as a stand-alone fashion show at the evening of the Mercedes Benz Petronas F1 party in October during race weekend.

The opening ceremony was led by Datuk Nancy Yeoh, President & CEO of STYLO International and Chairman of MBSTYLOAFF together with Mark Raine, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia; Datuk Prof (Dr) Jimmy Choo OBE, Honorary Advisor of Mercedes-Benz STYLO AsiaFashionWeek and Malaysia Fashion Week; Cher Ng, Executive Director & Founder, ZoukClub;  Datin Winnie Loo, CEO & Creative Director, A Cut Above Group & Academy and also representing Malaysian Hairdressing Association; Dr. CocoAlex Yeoh, Founder, Empro Cosmetics; and Maggie Chan of the Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association.

This year, we have the good fortune of tying glamour with a hip and fashionable club as we showcase aesthetically modern, experimental fashion at the region’s entertainment epicentre, Zouk!”

This was followed by 18 models parading the evolution of fashion in fantastical “hair-raising” coiffeurs by Malaysian Hairdressing Association (MHA) stylists from A Cut Above Salons, La’ Mode Coiffure, Elgon Hair, Hairsources, A+B Hair Studio, Tenz Group, Minas Hair Salon, Hair Emporium, Svenz Salon, Niko Kenz Hair Beauty, Noble Cut Hair Studio and Sunshine Hair & Beauty with creative wear provided by designer, Beatrice Looi.

H&M’s Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham

[Fashion News]

Legendary former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer and style icon David Beckham shot his latest H&M campaign for the launch of the spring 2016 Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham collection. The campaign is the latest for the Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham range. Each season sees David select his favourite pieces from the Modern Essentials menswear collection at H&M, creating a wardrobe of updated staples and new classics that men can rely on throughout the whole season.

The commercial was shot on the streets of Lisbon, where David realises that everyone wants to dress just like him. Here’s a look at the ad.

It’s the second time David has worked with director Fredrik Bond, taking on the theme of their last commercial where comedian Kevin Hart dressed exactly like David. The film will be accompanied by a print campaign shot by Mario Sorrenti.

The campaign highlights David’s role as a style leader to millions of men around the world. For David, it’s about mixing the traditions of menswear with fresh ideas that move menswear forward. The pieces he wears in the film, all selected by David from the Modern Essentials collection, are the perfect example of his timeless style.

“I always have the best time shooting H&M campaigns. They really understand my style and my sense of humour. It was great to wear such sharp pieces from the Modern Essentials range while having such a good time,” says David Beckham.

The new Modern Essentials selected by David Beckham collection will be available in two drops – February 18 and March 10 – in all H&M stores that carry menswear, as well as online.

Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0

[Tech & Gadgets]

Written by Tim Chew, Managing Editor of Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers.

Recently we got our hands on the Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0 which is Huawei devices’ latest tablet. We decided to do a little shoot with Andy Kho shooting MHB blogger Stephanie Lim at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. We shot in three (3) different locations inside the hotel – Gobo Upstairs Grill & Lounge, SkyBar and inside one of the hotel rooms.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0 was designed to offer a seamless audio experience paired with stunning visuals. This very slim tablet comes with a best-in-class audio, the device has dual stereo speakers and a PA power amplifier that creates clear tones with amplified volume, producing a balanced audio system that further enhances users’ entertainment experience.

The Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0 utilizes Clari-Fi® music restoration technology by Harman Kardon along with Super Wide Sound 2.0 (SWS 2.0) that projects 180-degrees surround sound effect for a music quality with low distortion rate that allows users to listen to their favourite tunes with a lot more accuracy and sharpness. Complete with Huawei’s ClariVu® technology and 8-inch FHD IPS touchscreen, the device adjusts its display functions according to its environment, providing users ease of use and amazing visuals.

Inspired by the theme of classical music, Huawei MediaPad M2 8.0 has a metal body and a sleek metallic texture that allows user-friendly grip. The parallel design of the stereo with dual speakers facilitates a harmonious acoustic enhancing feature that makes it an ideal home theatre on-the-go.

Although the front camera is only 2 megapixel and thus not the best for selfies, Stephanie just couldn’t resist trying out the camera’s beauty mode and snapped this pic.

Not too bad for a 2MP camera.

tomcat says – The Huawei MediaPad M2 is light and slim, has beautiful aesthetics and provides nice and rich sound from its dual speakers. The speakers are so powerful I normally have it at 25% loudness when I’m in a room otherwise it’ll be too loud! It’s great for entertainment and can play most games without any noticeable lag. However setting the graphics for games like World of Tanks to medium or high results in markedly decreased performance in terms of frames per second which makes the game jerky. It runs fine on the minimum plus a little extra graphics option but anything more than that will noticeably affect gameplay. Games like Clash of Clans and Boom Beach run smoothly unless there’s a hoard of 200+ enemies attacking at the same time which will then cause the game will slow down a bit.

It’s great for entertainment and you can watch about two full length movies before it needs to be charged which makes it good for long haul flights. Bring a large powerbank along and that should last you for most of your flight.

Besides gaming and movies, I’ve been using the M2 for checking social media like Facebook and Instagram, Gmail, and reading the news on apps like BBC. It certainly beats squinting at a smartphone screen and in fact when the M2 is around I don’t use my smartphone for anything other than calls or What’s App Messenger.

Quite an handy companion and it’s great for chilling and browsing social media, listening to some music or watching a movie when you’re in the bedroom or out and about. The premium metal design will get it some looks as well as most people are used to seeing either iPads or plasticky tablets.

Huawei Mediapad M2 8.0 available at all Huawei authorized stores nationwide from late November 2015 and is priced at RM 1,499.00

Honor 7 Smartphone – Latest Flagship by Honor

[Tech & Gadgets]

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently launched its latest Huawei honor 7 smartphone in Kuala Lumpur.

Honor is a sub-brand of Huawei and has been in the Malaysian market since April 2014. While Huawei smartphones target the more premium market, honor was introduced to meet the needs of Huawei’s younger consumers namely the ‘always on’ digital natives, a group that lives on the internet, spending one third of their time online for social and entertainment, shopping, studying or simply staying connected.

With that in mind, honor has a no-stores, no-gurus, no-contracts approach which is something very different in the mobile device marketplace, enabling customers to get the best technology at a great value price which holds quite to its tagline “Your unfair advantage”.

The new honor 7 is a fully metallic flagship smartphone that comes equipped with a host of innovative smart functions and multimedia capabilities that can be unlocked by using smart buttons and a gesture-enabled fingerprint reader.

Speaking at the launch, Allen An, Director of E-Commerce Malaysia, said: “Developed to make operating it as simple as possible, the honor 7’s solid performance will be a true reflection of user’s identity. Its multi-functionality enables digital natives – especially young working adults – to outperform their peers no matter if it is at work or leisure. Its smart and multimedia capabilities will also inspire action and creativity that will surprises everybody in their circles.”

“The device’s precise dimensions and metallic finish offer an optimal form-factor and premium feel, making it a highly reliable smartphone. All of these will allow digital natives to keep their competitive edge in today’s fast paced society,” An added.

The honor 7’s fully metallic body is air-brushed with a ceramic coating, offering a very premium look, while the device’s 5.2-inch encasing and well positioned buttons and sensors allows for ergonomic single-handed operation.

The honor 7’s frame-free metallic fingerprint reader allows for rapid 360-degree fingerprint authentication from various angles and even has a self-learning capability that allows scanning accuracy to be enhanced through the subtle re-recording of registered fingerprints during use. The reader also supports intuitive gesture control that enables you to answer calls to take photos.

The smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon octa-core Kirin 935 processor with its A53, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM memory, ensuring that you can run the most resource intensive apps without a hitch. Its L-shaped circuit board keeps the device cool while Huawei’s Signal+ technology and a smart dual-antenna design allows for the networks with stronger signals to be found at 80-times the average speed of similar devices. The smartphone comes with a long-lasting 3,100mAh battery, which offers good standby and use times, and the device also has quick-charging* capabilities.

The honor 7’s rear camera is a monster 20MP camera, which is powered by a Sony IMX 230 sensor and honor’s PDAF fast-focusing technology that allows its f/2.0-aperture lens to capture vivid low-light-condition images. The 8MP front-facing camera comes with a wide-angle f/2.4 aperture lens and built-in LED flash which has an image enhancement capabilities and panorama feature, helping you to take selfies or groufies.

For those of you who love snapping photos of your food, the honor 7 has a Good Food mode that adjusts the colour to help you to take nice food shots. The device is also equipped with various filters and has the Huawei P8’s revolutionary light-painting capability through which users can construct vibrant artistic images.

The honor 7 was designed to redefine mobile Internet experiences, and thus offers smart capabilities aided in part by its smart key, an additional button placed on the left-side of the device that can be used for quick Google searches on-the-go. A really useful feature is the fingerprint reader on the back of the device which also functions as a camera trigger, enabling you to take selfies by just tapping their index finger on the fingerprint scanner in camera mode.

The honor 7 also comes with voice capabilities, such as the ability to be woken up with a designated command, like “Dear honor”. Follow that up with a “where are you” and the device will call the user to find out its location. Taking screenshots is also much easier with its knuckle-tap feature that allow you to tap the screen twice with your knuckles for an instant full-screen capture.

The honor 7 is also available in Mystery Gray.

My first thoughts is that this is one sleek and sexy flagship smartphone with its metal body and a great camera! There’s just no equivalent for the 20MP camera at this pricepoint at the moment so the honor 7 rules supreme in that department. There’s also the fingerprint scanner which is pretty useful and convenient for unlocking your phone. I have an honor 7 with me so look out for my product review in coming weeks.

The honor 7 is currently available in two colours, Mystery Gray and Fantasy Silver for RM1,399.00  at (*quick-charging charger sold separately).

DEFINE’s events are tailored to deliver extraordinary experiences that excite, inspire and amaze, and aims to provide avenues for invited guests to experience DEFINE’s profound passion for quality and the finer things in life.

There were two (2) areas and this was the main hall which was transformed into a futuristic white wonderland
Thanks to the nice folks at DEFINE we got a nice VIP table close to the front. Good thing we got there early as the place started to fill up before long.
