We recently headed over to Altitude at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur for the exclusive high-tea and preview of RYAN ADDA’s new MIDO 2019 collection of frames. RYAN ADDA believes that “Visibility is Life”, and thus created their fashion forward yet relaxed eyewear designs that bridges the gap between young trendsetters and fashionable progressive lens wearers, and for those who want the finesse of designer eyewear but at a more accessible price-point.

The idea behind RYAN ADDA was first conceived when a group of talented young, inspired individuals from across Asia met up for the first time near Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, Australia after months of traveling, research, and discussion.

Together with Ryan and Agnes, they came up with some unique and creative ideas to embrace the ever-changing world in 2016.  RYAN ADDA has quickly grown into a successful international brand, lead by an incredible team with boutiques across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China and France.

RYAN is a change-maker with a deep passion in shifting status-quo to enhance efficacy and efficiency in things around him. This passion sparked the development of a stylish and iconic Asian-inspired brand, that provides optometry practices with a choice of stylish and beautifully balanced eyewear. Ryan is also known as the eyewear stylist in South East Asia.

ADDA. The acronym ADDA represents Agnes, Donovan, Darell, and Amanda, who are the fundamental foundation to this brand. Each member’s unique personality has been a source of inspiration for the brand, including the different collections within the range.

Each RYAN ADDA piece has its own unique story, individually designed taking inspiration from the beauty around us, with the wearer and functionality always being top of mind.

Triumph Previews their #TogetherWeTriumph Campaign at 1 Utama’s Fashion Week “Style At One” 2018

[Event]

Triumph previewed their #TogetherWeTriumph campaign at 1 Utama’s Fashion Week “Style At One” 2018 on 9 April 2018. With me this time round were MHB social media influencers Any Wong, YJ and Nicole Fu. Triumph will be launching a global campaign titled #TogetherWeTriumph, to empower and recognise sisterhood and togetherness, marking a new creative direction for the brand in 2018.

For over 130 years, Triumph has been supporting women through their product, giving the feeling of total confidence and providing fit solutions for all shapes and sizes.  Embedded in the Triumph Brand Values is the support of women who support one another and representing the brand are thousands of employees who excel in service every day, from design and innovation to the fit experts in store. #TogetherWeTriumph is a celebration of women all over the world and will be seen on cinema, digital, social, OOH and at retail worldwide.

To kickstart this campaign that launched globally on 18 April 2018, Triumph Malaysia presented the “Empowering Female with Triumph” Fashion Showcase at One Utama.

In place of the standard sexy lingerie fashion show, Triumph partnered with renowned Fashion and Style director Azza Arif, who has worked with celebrities like Alexandra Daddario & Liv Tyler, to showcase the Spring/Summer 2018 collection with a fashion styling presentation. Azza was asked to style the models who wore various outfits challenging the status quo and stereotypical perception of women, like a pilot, engineer, footballer, MMA fighter, and a corporate look, pairing various pieces of Triumph lingerie with them.

The Triumph Spring/Summer 2018 Magic Wire Lite, which combines the Magic Wire and Magic Spacer technology in the design, was one of the key collections showcased as it moulds to the wearer’s shape and is Triumph’s lightest bra, making it very comfortable to wear in a job which requires a person to constantly be out and about.

On the other hand, the Triumph Triaction range provides maximum support and lightness – suitable for those in more active outdoors types of professions like sportswomen, engineers, etc. etc.

Triumph Managing Partner, Markus Spiesshofer commented, ”It is no secret that behind every women is another woman who inspires and helps her and this is what we want to celebrate. It is also a celebration of our Triumph family. Our employees all over the world who are constantly innovating and crafting lingerie with every woman in mind. Today this message of female empowerment is incredibly relevant and deserves our support.”

The refreshing cloudy liquid has a unique smooth-taste with hints of citrus and coriander spice, making it a favourite among many female beer drinkers. The beer is brewed with the caviar of noble hops – Strisselspalt hops, which offers an exquisite aromatic flavour that embodies the elegance of France.

Maui Jim x Malaya Optical x MHB Influencer Day

[Special Event]

Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers (MHB) recently ran a collaborative engagement with renowned sunglasses brand Maui Jim from Hawaii and established eyewear specialist Malaya Optical. The engagement saw over two dozen notable social media influencers, beauty queens, as well as bloggers visit Malaya Optical in Uptown Damansara to check out the new range of Maui Jim sunglasses which landed on our shores not too long ago.

Maui Jim started out in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina on the island of Maui, which is part of the Hawaiian islands. Maui is one of the lushest, most vibrant places on earth. Yet its intense sunlight creates conditions that hide the beauty of the island when viewed with the naked eye.

Recognising a blue ocean market for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colours of the island to life, Maui Jim developed their revolutionary PolarizedPlus2® lens, which provides greater colour, clarity, and detail, while shielding your eyes from glare and harmful UV.

Maui Jim’s patented multi-layered lens design allows more usable light to be transmitted to the eyes, resulting in unrivaled visual acuity, contrast and colour are the exquisite results. This allows the user to experience deeper, more saturated colours and higher levels of contrast in any environment.

The patented PolarisedPlus2® lens technology also eliminates 99.9% of glare and blocks 100% of harmful UV rays, and thus Maui Jim sunglasses are recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV filter for the eyes and surrounding skin. It is the only premium sunglasses brand carrying the Skin Cancer Foundation’s seal of approval.

Available in four lens colours, Maui Jim® offers an option for every level of light. Neutral Grey lenses offer contrast and the highest available glare reduction and are suitable for all light conditions, especially bright, direct sunlight. Maui Rose® lenses offer the sharpest contrast and image resolution. They are excellent for fast action activities, overcast or foggy days. HCL® (High Contrast Lens) Bronze lenses offer enhanced contrast and are ideal for hazy and low light conditions. The new HT™ (High Transmission) lenses are perfect for variable and low light conditions, haze, fog, or overcast days and feature a flattering palm tint without a distracting yellow cast.

Today, Maui Jim offers over 125 styles of sunglasses, 100% of which are polarized and protect from 100% of UVA and UVB rays, with Polarizedplus2® Lens Technology for brilliant colour so every detail is crisper and cleaner and without glare or harmful UV.

Here are some technologies present in Ball Watches:

Night reading evolution – Micro gas tubes (H₃)

Self-Powered Micro Gas Tubes (H₃) are a novel light source manufactured by means of innovative Swiss laser technology.  They provide superior, longlife brightness – 100 times brighter than markings using luminous paints – with a lifetime easily reaching 25 years.  The BALL micro gas tubes do not need recharging from the sun and do not drain batteries. However, the brightness of H₃ micro gas lights will deteriorate over the years.

Anti-Magnetism

An anti-magnetic mechanical watch does not stop when exposed to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m and subsequently does not deviate by more than 30 seconds per day. Anti-magnetic timepieces from BALL Watch surpass this standard, particularly the Engineer Hydrocarbon series with 12,000 A/m standard protection.”

Temperature Measurement (TMT)

The BALL TMT movement powers the world’s first mechanical thermometer from -35°C to 45°C (-31°F to 113°F) wristwatch. It uses a spiral bimetallic thermometer to measure temperature with far more accuracy than temperature modules used in past watches

Shock Resistance – Built to be strong

Built with the highest quality standards in mind, every BALL watch undergoes rigorous testing procedures to verify its impeccable shock resistance up to 5,000Gs.

With the Engineer Hydrocarbon collection, Ball Watch goes well beyond the above standard by testing with a tougher 1.5 meter hammer strike, raising the resistance to 7,500Gs. A third shock test against the relatively weaker three o’clock crown position of the watch tests our patented crown protection system to ensure it functions properly. Almost all Engineer Hydrocarbon watch models can resist to this 7,500Gs shock resistance test without any damage.

Crown Protection System – For superior water and shock resistance

The patented crown protection system guarantees superior water and shock resistance, even at the most vulnerable area of the case, the crown. Many watches are damaged due to water leakage or external shock damages occurring at the crown. The crown, particularly if it is not a screwed-in crown, is among the most at risk parts
